There's Always a Bigger Fish
A prototype for a game about fishing with little bait but also a shrink ray. Due to a lack of time, it's pretty scrappy. You might want to read about the mechanics and controls below. Yeah, I know, who wants to read when you could be fishing instead? But bear with me.
Controls:
- Left/Right or A/D to move left and right.
- Hold space bar to lower hook. Release to raise it.
- Tap space bar to do the quick-time event thing that pops up.
- Number keys change the music. I'll put a tracklist in the comments next time it's not 3 AM. (I started working on this rather late.) But, like, they're popular songs I'm sure everybody knows anyway.
- You can also press M to mute the music if you're out of touch with today's latest hits.
You can catch fish so long as you have a smaller fish on your hook to use as bait. Whenever you bring the hook back up to your boat, if your hooked fish ain't already as small as possible, you'll be given a quicktime event which, if won, will shrink your hook's fish.
You gain Fisherman's Pride as you catch more fish and attain a higher combo. But careful! I put some stupid line of code in there that'll make the fishies faster the higher your (fisherman's) pride is. Man, they should make me the CEO of Game Design or something.
Try not to let fish get away! That hurts your pride. It also ends your combo. (Missing the quicktime event also ends your combo.)
Thanks for playing! I hope you have a fin-tastic day! Heh, get it? Since the game canonically takes place off the coast of Finland.
Made with Godot Game Engine. Graphics made in Wigglypaint. SFX made in Dfxr.
Made for the Gone Fishing Game Jam II.
I don't claim ownership of any of the songs used in this game except for one.
